Steam turbines utilize fiber optic connectivity to monitor and sense changing conditions within the steam turbine itself. For these applications, wider mode field diameter cable is used to as a light guide for timing and RPM information. The connectors that support this harsh environmental application withstand pressures of up to150psi and function within a operational temperatures of 100°C+. These fiber optic systems are based on MIL-PRF-28876 stainless steal connectors and use M29504 style termini capable of establish a pressure seal of several hundred pounds of stream pressure.. |
