OLDER BRIDGE RETROFITTED WITH FIBER OPTIC SYSTEMS
The soundness and stability of bridges has become a focal point for Homeland Security, as well as for mechanical and structural deterioration. Fiber optic optical interferometer sensing is being used to monitor older bridges for structural damage and changes, and new security systems are being installed to monitor suspicious activity throughout a bridge’s structural support areas. multi-channel harsh environmental connectors and ruggedized fiber optic cable are also used to install fiber optic links for voice, video and data acquisition and transmission. Pre-terminated F-LINK, DTL-38999 of simplex (ST,FC,SC) connector assemblies with rugged indoor/outdoor cable can deliver system availability while ensuring project cost containment through pre-terminated assemblies.
